Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Here’s a useful recipe sent in by reader M Cleaver in Northampton for using up left-overs to make a batch of dog biscuits.

  • 450g wholemeal plain flour
  • 50g beef or lamb dripping and/or oil from tinned fish
  • Leftover gravy mixed to 560ml with water and an egg
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • ½ teaspoon curry powder (mild)
  1. Sieve all the dry ingredients together.
  2. Melt the fat and add any oil you many wish to use and stir into the dry ingredients.
  3. Add the liquid and egg mixture and knead to make a dough. It should be the consistency of shortcrust pastry.
  4. Roll out the dough and cut into shapes of your choice.
  5. Place on a lightly-oiled baking sheet and bake at 190°C or slightly lower if in a fan oven. Bake for about 30 minutes or until firm and golden in colour.
